Illuminations & ‘Christmas By The Sea’ Extended Until 7th January

By popular demand, Blackpool’s Christmas by the Sea seafront village and the Illuminations have both been extended for a further week. The seafront village was scheduled to close on 1st January – but will now shut shop at the end of the day on Sunday 7th January, 2024.

With its popular a free-to-use ice-skating rink, the village will be open from noon until 9 p.m. every day until Sunday 7th January with free skating until 8 p.m. The six-mile illuminations display will also remain lit.

Blackpool’s Tower Festival Headland hosts Christmas By The Sea, which features a wide range of food and drink cabins, a selection of children’s attractions, a 100ft-long snow slide and the Sky Flyer – a 196ft tall ride which is one of Europe’s tallest swing rides.

Announcing the extension, Councillor Lynn Williams, Leader of Blackpool Council, said, ‘Christmas By The Sea has once again proved to be hugely popular, particularly with families. We are mindful that for many the Christmas break is not yet over, hence the decision to keep it open for another week. Hopefully, as we move into the New Year, the weather will be kind and give our residents and visitors another opportunity to experience what is a unique event.’
