Lunchtime Knife Attack At Houndshill Shopping Centre – Two Teenagers Arrested

Following reports yesterday lunchtime (5th November) of an assault involving the use of a knife in Houndshill Shopping Centre, two teenagers were arrested.  Police say they were called at 12.34p.m. and a short time later, two males aged 16 and 17 years were arrested in the town centre and were placed in police custody. Also, as a consequence of the reports, there was a noticeable Police presence in the area yesterday,

Police have today (6th November) reported that after consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, a 17-year-old male from Blackpool has now been charged with Attempt Grievous Bodily Harm, Affray and Threatening with a Bladed Article. The teenager has been remanded into custody and will appear at Blackpool Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday 7th November).

The second male arrested has been released under investigation. It has also been confirmed by Blackpool Police that no serious injuries were suffered during this incident.

The aftermath was witnessed by one on-looker who said that the assault led to a heavy police presence in the town after the incident. She added, ‘ Maybe if there was more of a police presence in the town the incident wouldn’t have happened.’
