Sophie Ellis-Bextor To Headline Free Show & Switch On Blackpool Illuminations

Sophie Ellis-Bextor will perform on the Tower Festival Headland on Friday 1st September before ceremoniously pulling the switch to launch a once again extended four months of Illuminations. The Switch-On event will be the climax  of a spectacular programme of free entertainment which will start with a colourful float parade featuring the stars of Nickelodeon, the world’s favourite children’s TV channel.

The multi-platinum selling singer, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, is known for her chart hits Murder On the Dancefloor and Take Me Home. An overjoyed Sophie said: “I’m so excited to be coming back to Blackpool to perform a few of my favourite tracks. I can’t wait to see you all there.”

Blackpool Council Leader Lynn Williams said, ‘Sophie is a pop phenomenon with a fabulous recording career and someone who captured the hearts of the public during lockdown. We can’t wait to see her light up Blackpool.’

The whole night, which is due to begin around 7.00 p.m. on Friday 1st September will be free to access.
