How Did St Bede’s and LSA Fare In The GCSE League Positions Of Fylde Schools?

Provisional results released present the league positions of Fylde Coast schools for Grade 5 or better in English and Mathematics and the Government measure of Progress 8 . The league positions (see the table below) are designed to provide comparative information on how well schools are doing against others nationally.

(A Progress 8 score is calculated for each pupil by comparing their Attainment 8 score with the average Attainment 8 scores of all pupils nationally who had a similar starting point, using assessment results from the end of primary school.)

St Bede’s Catholic High School and Lytham St Anne’s High School came 5th and 6th respectively out of 18 schools. Both of these local high schools, however, have minus progress scores which is below the government average of 0.

The only school with a positive progress score was St George’s in Blackpool which the government classes as the only above average Fylde Coast school using these measures of attainment.

Check out how well your school has done in the table below:

South Shore Academy, which following an inspection by OFSTED was judged as ‘inadequate’ and  placed in ‘special measures’, is the bottom school in the table.
