The 1940s War Time Weekend, which was last staged in 2019, is set to return later this year to Lytham Green, promising two exciting days of wartime entertainment and re-enactments. As an added bonus – admission is free.
The dates for your diary are Saturday 20th August 20 and Sunday 21st August – and there will plenty for families to see and enjoy on the Green.
Organisers have already received confirmation of static aircraft, a MVT display, battle re-enactments, historic vehicles, the Home Front, a daily vehicle parade, a weapons’ display, plus military charities, a vintage fairground and stalls. Once again Derek Herbert will be re- appearing as Winston Churchill (photograph below), whilst Colin Bourdiec (as George Formby) and vintage singer Paula Marie will be recalling the entertainment of yesteryear.
There will be more detailed announcements in the coming weeks, once some other parts of the event are booked.
